Footlong Coney Dogs
INGREDIENTS
footlong hot dogs
hoagie rolls
1 lb ground beef
1 small diced white onion
6 oz beef broth
6 oz Miller Lite
1 tbsp yellow mustard
½ tsp onion powder
1 tbsp white vinegar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
salt & pepper
DIRECTIONS
sauté 1 small diced white onion
when onion is ¾ the way cooked, brown 1 lb ground beef with the onion
in a small pot, add beef broth, beer, mustard, onion powder, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and salt & pepper
after the hamburger is browned, add it to the pot with the liquid mixture
bring coney sauce to a boil and then turn down the heat to simmer. Simmer until all of the liquid is gone. This could take 30-60 minutes.
after coney sauce is finished, add your footlong hot dogs to the griddle and cook over medium-low heat
when dogs are done, add buns to a wire rack, add dogs to the buns, top dogs with coney sauce & cheese. Then spray some water under the wire rack and cover with a pan to steam the buns and melt the cheese
after steaming for a minute, remove your footlongs from the wire rack and top with whatever you want. (mustard, onions and jalapenos)
